3D in vitro cell exposure

XposeALI, our 3D cell exposure module, combines aerosol capability with 3D cell models cultured in an Air Liquid Interface (ALI.) It enables studies of cellular effects induced by airborne particles and allows in vitro dissolution monitoring.


The patented cell exposure in vitro model uses the PreciseInhale™System for exposing lung cells with respirable size aerosols. The exposure system is thermostatted to 37°C and the cells are in contact with media from below during the entire exposure.

After aerosol exposure, the cells are brought back to the incubator for an appropriate time period. In this way the aerosol exposure induced cellular effects can be studied by analyzing the cells.

The experimental setup can be expanded by letting the cells remain in the exposure system even though the exposure is finished. By pumping the media away and collecting it by a fraction collector, the dissolution of dry powder particles could be chemically measured.
